On March 16th was Kyabje Tenga Rinpoche's parinirvana anniversary. Our Benchen Monastery, Swoyambhu, and the shedra in Parphing had a nice Tara puja, offered lots of butter lamps, and recited prayers. I am quite sure all of you did the same thing.

The Benchen Monastery administrators are in Thrangu Rinpoche's monastery in Saranath, Benares (Varanasi), right now. This is due to a large three-day Tseringma drubchen that His Holiness Karmapa is holding for the benefit of Kyabje Tenga Rinopoche's reincarnation so that everything will be going well. Monks and nuns of Thrangu Rinpoche's monastery and the Benchen monastery will join His Holiness. Every morning beginning on March 21st will be a Karma Pakshi tsok offering. The drubchen will be held in the afternoons. The last day will be March 23rd. His Holines asked the great Umdze Bai Karma from Rumtek Monastery, Sikkim, to lead the Tseringma Druchen together with three Benchen Umdzes.

Isn't it that we would all like to express to His Holiness our immense gratitude from the bottom of our hearts? All the sangha members of Kyabje Tenga Rinpoche, students and friends, we feel it is a great honor that His Holiness is arranging such a great puja in Benares

On 22nd February at 6:35pm during the dedication of the Mönlam on the last day His Holiness publicly announced to everybody confidently in the shrine hall that he had a very clear vision of Kyabje Tenga Rinpoche's reincarnation. He felt very strong devotion when the vision of Rinpoche, who is already born, appeared. His Holiness wrote down a clear letter which he is going to hand over to Drubwang Sangye Nyenpa Rinpoche very soon.

This second announcement regarding our great master Kyabje Tenga Rinpoche made us all very happy.

 One very good news: On the 5th February (see photo) we had an audience with His Holiness Karmapa. We requested whether there is any need for shapdens (tib: Pujas) and His Holiness has adviced concerning Kyabje Tenga Rinpoche's coming reincarnation. His Holiness told us we need to perform 100,000,000 (dung) Guru Rinpoche mantras and 10,000,000 (sa ya) 21 Tara prayer. The indication by His Holiness is that Kyabje Tenga Rinpoche is already born on this earth. I hope I can tell you more news gradually step by step.

I am so happy and hope you all are too.

The tear down of the Maitreya shrine hall at Benchen Monastery, Kathmandu, is finally processing more rapidly after five months. The deconstruction works that are now going very well have almost reached the ground floor. The little monks who are still staying in Parphing are now having their holidays. All the older monks from Swoyambhu and the Shedra in Parphing are now in Bodhgaya. Drubwang Sangye Nyenpa Rinpoche is still in Parphing at the time and will soon come to Bodhgaya as well.

On 13th November our Benchen Monastery participated a big conference on environmental protection for Tibetan Buddhist monasteries and nunneries in the Himalayas. The senior monks Dawa Sherpa and Karma Yonten Lophel went as the Benchen delegation to participate in the conference at the Gyuto monastery, Dharamsala. This year we have received a very nice certificate for this year's efforts for the environment from His Holiness Karmapa. The Benchen monastery is very much dedicated to work for environmental issues.

On the 2nd December Drubwang Sangye Nyenpa Rinpoche arrived in Kathmandu all of the Benchen community in Nepal was very happy to receive Rinpoche back in the country.

On the 5th December the annual one-week long Mahakala Drubchen has started. This year, the Drubchen is scheduled a little early due to the timing of the Kagyu Monlam. The Two-Armed Mahakala Bernagchen Drubchen is held by about forty to fifty senior monks in the room above the Tara Shrineroom in the Benchen monastery, Swoyambhu. On the tenth of December which is a Mahakala day our Vajra Master is going to perform a lamadance.
